Elohim

Characters

In this roleplaying game, players take on the role of those who awakened as ‘angels’, awakening with gifts and powers. Are they truly angels? Or something else. Will they strive to make the world better? Some may not. Some will have been awake for centuries, some for years, some for mere weeks. As awakenings become more frequent, will their presence save the world.. or break it.

Characters awaken from a near-death experience, with only dim memories of their past. They awaken near-immortal, with the ability to hear the thoughts of others, send thoughts to others – and perhaps influence minds in other ways. They will encounter others like them, perhaps to work together?

Those that have been awake longer, will have exceptional breadth of experience – but will have consumed some of the energy that maintains their immortality through the years. Those who are newest born will be confused, disoriented, but with untouched reserves – and, perhaps, more knowledge of why so many are awakening.

A storm is coming…

Lifefire

Lifefire is what makes the Elohim different from humans. At your Awakening, it healed your body, returning you to life from that moment of death. As long as your Lifefire remains, you cannot die. But it is finite.

Any time you are injured beyond the point that your body can heal itself, the Lifefire will kick in and repair your body. The more seriously damaged you are, the more Lifefire will be consumed. As long as any Lifefire remains, you do not age. You can be poisoned, injured, will catch diseases, etc – but if these things threaten your life, the Lifefire will heal you.

You can learn to tap Lifefire to a limited extent, triggering it to heal you when your body is not so critically injured – sacrificing more energy of course.

But when your Lifefire is gone, you are no longer immortal. Human again.

Some say that the Elohim’s other gifts depend on Lifefire too, that when it’s all gone they will no longer be able to contact and influence minds. A few say that when the Lifefire is gone, you return to that moment of death you escaped at Awakening. No-one seems to know for sure, no Elohim willingly would consume the last of their Lifefire.

Telepathy

All Elohim are Telepathic, they can hear and send thoughts to some degree. Their powers exclusively affect minds, they can never affect the physical world, only the mental one.

Telepathy requires line of sight – they can only affect someone they can see, clearly enough to identify them as a particular individual; or someone they are touching. It doesn’t give them any power to understand other languages – thoughts at the language level are usually in an individuals native language.

Some Elohim can go further – they can control minds, search for people in crowds, see through others eyes, cloud vision or send illusions, even cause fear or pain.

Others repress their Telepathy as much as they can – but it never works for long, it’s part of who they are.
