Elohim

Adversaries

In their bid to watch over mankind, and preserve God’s plan, the Elohim encounter a variety of opponents. The most common are simply men, themseves, acting against God’s will. But since the Elohim fell, they themselves have introduced threats to the Plan.

Elohim

Elohim should be guided by God’s plan, but since the Fall – that hasn’t always worked. Some resist it, some go mad, some perhaps just misunderstand the subtleties or lose sight of it.

However this happens, occasionally Elohim will find themselves opposing their own kind.

Scions

It’s said that before the Fall, Archangels could create Scions – awaken the potential within a human mind, and give them similar mental powers to an Elohim. Scions were usually controlled closely via a “motivational imperative”, as they clearly were not aware of the Plan, so must be guided by an angel.

Since the Fall, it has been discovered that the ability to create Scions is not entirely lost. Humans with weak mental powers have been encountered, and occasionally, these “bend the rules” under which Elohim powers work.

A rogue Scion, uncontrolled, can cause significant issues and disruption to the Plan. Thankfully, they are usually much weaker than an Elohim and can be brought under control when they are located.

Nephilim

“The Nephilim were on the earth in those days –and also afterwards– when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.” (Genesis 6:4)

“And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven saw and lusted after them, and said to one another, “come let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.” (Book of Enoch 6:1-3)

“The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. We saw the Nephilim there. We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.” (Numbers 13:32)

In Hebrew writings, the Nephilim were a race of giants that were produced by the sexual union of the sons of God and the daughters of men. “Nephilim” translates as “fallen ones”, and these giants were renowned for their strength, prowess, and wickedness.

The story of the Nephilim begins with Shemhazai, an angel of high rank, who led a sect of angels in a descent to earth to instruct humans in the ways of righteousness. This went on for a few centuries, but the angels pined for the human females. The fallen angels taught the women magic, mated with them, and produced offspring neither man nor angel: the Nephilim.

The Nephilim are recorded as being gigantic, with incredible strength and immense appetites. The Nephilim attacked and oppressed men and were the cause of massive destruction on the earth.

All Elohim know that it is not in God’s plan for them to have children. Some have violated this plan, and found that their children are not human, and not Elohim. They have the mental powers, but not Lifefire – and they have no sense of the Plan, so they are not bound to follow it. The thought of one with powers like theirs, and no moral compass, fills the hearts of Elohim with terror.

Unrestrained as they are, and of limited lifespan, these children often use their powers widely, gaining power and skill, becoming a match for any Elohim unless they are stopped young. As in the legends, they tend to become incredibly strong, and very much oppressors of men.

If allowed to grow and develop their skills, these children, perhaps the Nephalim of legend, are perhaps the most dangerous foes the Elohim can face.
